Kronofogden letter: acknowledge receipt or dispute the claim?

Received a Swedish payment request? First identify the action the letter asks for. Acknowledging receipt and responding to the claim are separate steps.

Is this the right type of letter?

This guide concerns an initial payment request from Kronofogden, before a decision. Find the heading, case reference, applicant and amount. A decision (utslag), attachment, eviction or court document needs a different route. Follow that document’s instructions and seek qualified help promptly.

Receipt does not mean agreement

Kronofogden explains that an acknowledgement confirms that the letter reached you. It does not accept the claim. The letter states the time available for your substantive response, linked to your acknowledgement. Keep that date and read the two steps separately. Read the official receipt guidance.

Is the amount wrong, or have you paid?

For an incorrect claim, explain in writing what you dispute and why. If you have paid, notify Kronofogden and check any remaining claim; your payment alone does not automatically close the case. Kronofogden explains these situations separately. Check the official options.

Compare the original invoice, payment record and new letter. Check currency, amount, date and reference. A difference may concern fees or interest; do not claim everything is paid if that remains unclear.

Prepare facts, not an invented reason

Asking for an explanation is not the same as disputing the claim. If time is short, do not wait for an AI result.

Example: a paid principal is claimed again

Fictional example for someone who can prove payment of the stated principal, yet sees it claimed in the initial request. Not a complete Swedish procedural document. Use only facts that apply to you; check the accepted language, required details and route. This example is not an acknowledgement of receipt.

Preparation for case [case reference]

I dispute the claimed principal of [amount and currency] for invoice [number]. I paid this principal on [date] to [recipient], using payment reference [reference]. The attached payment record shows that payment.

This response concerns that part only. [Explain your position on any other amounts separately.]

What help is available here?

Choose Sweden and the matching topic in the form. Limited official-source information supports receipt of an initial Kronofogden payment order, only when the source check succeeds and the document fits this narrow scope. Otherwise the result is general guidance. No court defence, deadline calculation, eligibility determination or guaranteed outcome. Check the required reply language and official submission route yourself.

Use official services directly where appropriate; you do not need to buy Briefhelder to open the source below. We do not access your case, contact Kronofogden or submit anything on your behalf. Swedish is not an available draft-reply language in Briefhelder.
