Has your bank rejected your complaint or left its explanation unclear? Separate its reason from the possible next steps.

Read what the bank actually says

Identify the complaint addressed, the reason given and the records relied on. A rejection does not automatically prove that the bank is right; dissatisfaction does not automatically establish a refund entitlement. Note exactly which fact or calculation you cannot follow.

Banca d’Italia and ABF are different routes

A report to Banca d’Italia can prompt it to ask the institution to examine your points and reply to you. This is not a decision on your contractual dispute. Its official page points to ABF for a dispute decision after complaining to the institution. Check eligibility, costs and timing separately. A draft to your bank is not a filed ABF case.

Make your follow-up specific

Do not add unverified allegations or legal grounds. If the letter states a deadline, check it promptly; another question does not automatically extend it.

Example: a clear follow-up

Fictional situation: the bank has rejected an existing complaint. Use only facts from your correspondence. This example asks for clarification; it does not determine liability or file a formal appeal.

Dear complaints team,

In your reply dated [date], reference [reference], you reject my complaint citing [the reason actually stated in the reply]. I do not understand how this applies to [factual question]. Please explain this and identify the relevant records you relied on.

Please also clarify which next-step route your reply refers to and where I can find its official instructions.

Kind regards,

What help is available here?

Choose Italy and banking complaint or clarification. For a matching letter and a successful official-source check, the analyser uses limited information from Banca d’Italia: distinguish a complaint to the bank from a supervisory report or an ABF dispute. It does not determine eligibility, liability, compensation or deadlines. Court and enforcement papers fall outside this module. If the source check fails, the result explicitly falls back to general help.

Explanation and draft replies are available in English or Dutch; check which language the recipient accepts.

Use official services directly where appropriate; you do not need to buy Briefhelder to open the source below. We do not access your complaint account, contact the bank or submit anything on your behalf.
