German Mahnbescheid: understand the court notice
Find the document type, court reference and response instructions before preparing a reply.
Check the heading first
A Mahnbescheid is different from a payment reminder or a Vollstreckungsbescheid. Under ZPO § 692, the court has not checked whether the claim is justified. The notice describes the response period and form. Read these promptly; this page does not calculate your deadline.
A reply to the creditor is not a court response
Section 694 addresses written opposition to the issuing court. Briefhelder explains the route and can prepare a supplementary clarification request, but does not prepare or file a completed court defence.
Bring the complete document
Include the pages with the court name, claim details and response instructions. Keep the original envelope and record when you received it. Do not upload only the amount page. Choose Germany and “court Mahnbescheid”; choose English or Dutch for the explanation and German for a draft if useful.
Review before using the result
Check the case reference and distinguish what the claimant alleges from what you know. If the heading, stage or instructions are unclear, get qualified help promptly. A clarification request does not replace the required court action.
